An insight to our week:

Within the setting we follow the 'In the moment' approach. Meaning we follow your child's interest and offer extensions to their play to support different areas of learning, depending on their needs.

We use the 'Famly' app to share images at the end of each day, and offer 'conversation' starters to promote your child's ability to recall events, in preparation for school.

Wood work:

Each term we switch which days Woodwork is held on - this will be either Monday and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Fridays. Training has been undertaken from the brilliant Pete Moorhouse. Offering this opportunity promotes all areas of development, from hand eye co-ordination, and enriching your child's language and vocabulary, to promoting confidence and a sense of responsibility.

Kitchen Activities:

Kitchen activities take place on the alternating days to woodwork - we switch up our recipes each half term, making things such as Pizza, Savoury Muffins and Scones! Cooking/baking gives great opportunities to encourage maths in a fun and exciting way, alongside increasing children's listening and attention - and they absolutely love having a tasty treat to take home!

Longueville Court:

Every Wednesday, each key group takes it in turns to venture out in to the spectacular woods that we have gated access too via the garden and travel to Longueville Court to take part in some activities with the residents. From arts and crafts, to singing or playing a game - both the children and the residents share ideas, conversations and joy throughout!

School Readiness:

Alongside ensuring children are safe and secure within the environment, our next goal is school readiness! The Peterborough START programme is an excellent tool we use to help promote independence ready for your child's transition into school!  More information about what this entails can be found here: https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/residents/schools-and-education/school-readiness

Key Groups:

Each child is partnered with a 'Key Group'. Ours are Badgers, Squirrels, Foxes, Owls, Hedgehogs and Deer. Each group is lead by one of our amazing team members who will become your first point of call within the setting and be there to support both you and your child throughout your journey with us.

Key Sports:

Every Monday Scott from Key Sports comes in to the setting and the children take part in sports games in small groups

Woodland Walks:

The children regularly go on walks in small or large groups in the lovely woods that border our setting

Visitors to Playgroup:

Throughout the year we organise various visits to Playgroup from places like Ark Farm who bring their large farm animals in the Summer term and small animals in the Autumn Term. We enjoy seeing ducklings hatch in the Spring Term or butterflies emerge from their cocoons.
